SPECIAL SERVICE PROJECTS

How do we reconcile the desire to engage actively in making this a better world through hands-on ministry and the competing demands on the precious time and multiple commitments of our 21st century lives? The age of the "professional volunteer" is long past. And yet, how can we grow our Christian faith by putting our words into action? How do we match Time and Talent with Treasure? Cannot commit more than a few hours a week? Cannot commit more than a day or two a year? Interested in a one-time initiative? The answer is the Special Service Projects approach.

Since 2009, our parish has experimented with new forms of mission and outreach. It is service-oriented with bite-sized, limited duration projects that enable us to serve others without making a long-term commitment. Our project with Cornerstone dinners was a shining example of what can be done, as was the walkathon for Friends of Hospice, and our Special Lenten Water Project where learning met meeting the needs of others.

Working with some of our partners, we are developing new opportunities to serve our community, where Christ Church Bells Corners truly becomes Christ Church Being Community! Here are a few examples (registration below):
